Friday 4th September - Smokestack (Duo)
For 25 years this roots and blues outfit has performed at venues and blues festivals in both Europe and the UK, including sharing the bill with BookerT and the MG's, Nina Simone, Peter Green, Taj Mahal at the UK's legendary Bishopstock blues festival.
Wednesday 9th Sept - The Waldegrave Ensemble
The Waldegrave Ensemble is a flexible group with a wind quintet at its core. They perform a wide range of repertoire for wind quintet and collaborate with string and piano players to perform larger mixed chamber works.
Since forming in 2009 the Waldegrave Ensemble have set out to embrace new ways to engage their audiences during their performances; incorporating storytelling or theatre into performances or collaborating with dancers and using visual stimulus to enrich their listeners experiences.
The Ensemble are also enthusiastic about working alongside composers to create and perform new chamber works. Recent collaborations include performances of 'Calendar of intolerable inventions from around the world' by Hong Kong born composer Raymond Yiu and the world premiere of a new quintet by British composer Matthew Taylor.
Friday 11th September - Nigel Price Duo
Nigel Price is acknowledged as one of the finest jazz guitarist in the UK. He has worked tirelessly to organise his own tours and has picked up a Parliamentary Jazz Award (Best Jazz Ensemble, 2010), a nomination for a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2014) and a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2016) along the way.
He is a regular performer at London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club where he has made more than 500 appearances. He released his fifth Organ Trio Album Heads & Tales Volume 2 in late 2016 to great critical acclaim.
Sunday 13th September - Thuy Mallalieu Trio
Thuy Mallalieu Trio - A Chick Corea inspired, Keyboard led, jazz/funk fusion trio featuring a unique take on some well known tunes as well as a number of original jazz compositions.
Wednesday 16th September - 'Sitar and Tabla Magical Music with Baluji Shrivastav OBE'
Baluji Shrivastav OBE is one of the greatest instrumentalists India has produced excelling in sitar, surbahar, dilruba, pakhavaj and tabla. The outstanding characteristic of Baluji’s musical career is his versatility. His ability to concentrate on sound as his primary mode of interaction with the world has enriched his musicality and his courageous attitude to life is reflected in his approach to music.
