Epsom Job Centre Plus has launched a Work Experience programme and is looking for local businesses to offer potential work experience placements either now or in the future.

Key features of Work Experience programme supported by the JCP:

Work Experience through their organisation enables unemployed people to volunteer for placements lasting between 2 and 8 weeks. You can select participants with the help of your Employer Adviser. Jobcentre Plus will continue to pay participants’ their benefit and cover the costs of travel and childcare if necessary. There is no direct cost to the host employer.

This is available to candidates aged 18 to 24 or 25 and over who don’t have recent work history.

Jobcentre Plus will liaise with you and agree on the duration of the placement. They will ask you to provide a reference for the jobseeker at the end.

For some young people, a lack of understanding or experience of the workplace is a significant barrier to finding employment. For older people, who may have been away from work for a while, the chance to undertake real work and adjust to the routines and habits of working life can significantly improve their confidence and employment prospects.
